Status 5-15-15*

Yesterday

Despite driving Red Baby to Burbank in the thunder storm, I had a great session with my voice acting coach, David Babich. I’m starting to feel some real progress in my ability. We also worked in the booth, and from the recordings I can HEAR the improvement in the vocal quality itself – let alone the acting, which has also improved. I’m excited to keep on working. (And Red Baby is fine and well from being parked in the mountain AND from being driven all week in inclement weather – also, glad to say the convertible top does NOT leak. Not too many chances to try that out in SoCal.)

Today

Gracie the tabby cat in Laurie's arms

Tiger’s mom, Gracie, is in an unusually cuddly mood. So I take advantage to snap her photo for today’s status. She is SO pretty, and Sooooo shy. Too bad or I’d get her a cat agent to help supplement our income.

Went for a walk down to the park in my hiking boots as the weather is wonky and there is mud from yesterday’s storm. Getting ready to do my singing practice and then some laundry. Going away for a weekend of voice acting study. It should be fun, and I think Mark will enjoy some alone time after all of the activities lately.

How about you?

Please feel free to comment on MY statuses or add YOUR OWN thoughts, feelings, challenges, rants and raves on these pages too. That was one of the original purposes of why I posted on FB. I thought BCs might like to share about THEIR days. So if you have thoughts and feelings you’d like to share with the group, go ahead and put them here with your comments.

*Daily statuses are not part of the blog’s email notification. When you enter your email under where it says SUBSCRIBE TO POSTS VIA EMAIL, you will be notified of regular blog posts and when podcast episodes are released. I didn’t want to clog your inbox with my daily statuses. However, the automatic publicize feature will inform you on my show FB page, my AdventureLaurie twitter account, google+ on its show page, and Tumblr.

PS If you wish to sign up for email notification of blog postings and shows going live (not these status reports) enter your email where it says: “SUBSCRIBE TO POSTS VIA EMAIL”. This blog subscription widget is located to the right on computers and on some tablets, and below the posts on smart phones and on other types of tablets.

PSS, some BCs have asked me the difference between blog postings and status pages. Blog postings are where I develop a complete topic triggered by my status thoughts. Status thoughts are how my day went, what’s on my agenda, and how my body feels today – and not much editing or thought goes into them. That’s why I don’t clog up your email with them. 🙂

The Bravery Coach

TheBraveryCoach daily tweet is a morning mediation on how I either did, or can incorporate an aspect of bravery into my day. It is cheerful. It is esteem building. Those who want to follow these on Twitter may, by searching for the hashtag #bravery or by seeing my profile:

Gracy is beautiful…..Way to move boldly in the directions of your goals….That qualifies for the Bravery Report.

We need to work in out garden and get “home stuff” done.

I myself need to get started moving towards my goals., although I did pick up a book on investing (day trading) from the library. I really want to learn to draw well (damn you perfectionist alien robots), but there is some kind of unexplainable fear holding me back.

Maybe my problem is I want to do to much and therefore have decision constipation.

I think I will spend some time this weekend deciding what goals to set.

Hey Dave, just on my way out to go study. Here’s a tip. I KNOW I am not even close to being the best voice actor going to class this weekend. I have feelings similar to what you describe around your art. What I have to do every moment when I go to the mic is to let myself just experience where I *am*. Sometimes it’s better than I expected, sometimes not as well as I hoped. Sometimes it’s right in the pocket. I don’t know how to really communicate the difference. It is more than process focused – it’s part of being in the moment and letting whatever happens be ok as part of learning. It’s enjoying the attempt. Enjoying the attention to what you are building in your skill by this practice. Each time I go to the mic, or each time you draw we create a moment closer to our creative goals. AND if we actually LIKE the process, we allow ourselves the joy. Perfectionism kills joy like none other – since we can NEVER be good enough in our minds. We can ALWAYS do better. And even if we DID ACHIEVE perfection in one moment, what then? I try to focus on the joy. Building joy. And if I don’t feel much joy in my pursuit, that’s when I truly consider giving it up. More on THIS topic next show I think. Anyway, I don’t think you are close to giving up art – so I send you virtual ZEN JOY Power to employ while I’m off doing my best this weekend, and forgiving myself for not doing my best this weekend, and marveling at my bravery this weekend. xoxoxoxoxox

Glad to hear that you are doing well and are moving forward towards your goals. I had a productive day, and a meal out with the family to celebrate Mother’s Day, my birthday, and my SIL’s birthday. We are getting our own storm right now. Makes me want to take a nap!

Hi Amy, it sounds like you having a good time with your family and cutting yourself good slack. Wow, you DO have a lot to celebrate in spring. Storms are fun – from the inside, driving in them, not so much, and driving with crazy Californians is NUTS! Californians (and I know I’m stereotyping) seem to drive as if EVERY day is dry and hot – i.e., fast as heck and darn the results! Need to REALLY get my defensive Washington state rainy driving hat on for these types of commutes. Luckily. today is overcast, but dry. So hopefully, I’ll get home up the dreaded 405 (The WORST crowded sit-fest, you can ever park a car in around SoCal. But my only choice for getting home today). At least I can wait out commute time and try to maneuver before the lunch crowd. Squawk, squawk! Can you tell I don’t like driving much outside of my known shortcuts these days? Anyway, glad to hear from you and sending you virtual hugs and smooches:::::HAPPY BIRTHDAY::::::::
