Podcast Recap

I tell my heart-pounding deer tale. I let go of time pressure and discover how time can be a guidepost instead. I share a few paragraphs from my latest blog post about overcoming fear and Dawny’s courageous response. We say hello to new BCs Taylor and Amanda who posted on the Compulsive Overeating Diary page on FB. Comments from last week’s show from BCs Dawny and Rabbit. A touching and brave call from new BC Kevin who last called the bravery hotline on day 130. I ponder grief, connection and how we grow into new identities.

A deer in the trail.

The unexpected deer shares its gaze before bounding up the hill.

Yaaaaaaay for friends!!!! Welcome Amanda & taylor. Kudos Kevin for making the brave call & sharing.
I appreciate your kind caring Laurie. Yay for I’m getting to feel better. Never a specific diagnosis or answer but what really matters is that I’m feeling better.
Truly awesome your closeness to the deer. Where we live they tend to run the other way in range of human. Lol.
I can appreciate your capture of the time factor. I’m bad in my rigid compulsive ways around time and dagnabbit EVERYTHING better go my way. The way I planned and the time I planned it or all is indeed lost lol.
Always such a treat hearing from you friend.

Welcome Kevin, I am so sorry for your loss, please know that your pain, sorrow and grief are real and valid and you are allowed to feel them as long as you need. In fact it is best if you choose to feel them and cry your eyes out if that is what you need.

Dawny, It is so good to hear from you again. I did not realize how much I missed the BCs, I’m sending you good karma and prayers for you, your Dr’s and your family. I hope with all my being you are able to heal quickly. You should also know your fear and frustration are very real and understandable.

I too am a mindful binge eater. There are times I choose not to experience negative emotions, usually when I’m not in a safe place mentally, and I will overeat to be numb.

I have learned that it is not ok to want to numb all the time. I have learned to experience my negative emotions and analyze what is triggering them and then letting them float away.

Treat yourself, first, with ALL the love and respect you show others, you are worthy and deserving of it.

Isn’t this a BIG key to moving past the allure of food (or TV or spending or whatever else we use)?

I’m so proud and excited for you. You are so creative and kind and talented. I can’t wait to see where your confidence and bravery will take you. xoxoxoxoxo

Thanks Dave, a worthy thought for us all I think 🙂

Dear Kevin – so sorry for your loss and I echo Dave’s comments (lovely words Dave)

Dear Dawny – so pleased to hear you are feeling better in this episode

Dear Laurie – I hear you re: your house, I find a habit tracker where I am reminded to clean sink, worktops, toilets and bathroom sinks, and do one thing a day helps keep the madness down to a low level loonacy!

Welcome to all the new BCs that have joined since the reboot – me included – binged from episode 1 to within 2 from the end (139)

We are all worthy of love and respect from ourselves

Sigh, we have tried so many things to keep the mortifying dusty house of horrors livable. So far, you are correct, that doing a little every day saves us, as we are BOTH prone, to procrastination that turns little jobs into HUGE EFFORTS that overwhelm us. Much easier to limit time or scope and not feel the all or nothingness that usually rule us. xoxoxo
