I expressed myself by painting from a young age. This painting was my first foray into using a palette knife with acrylic paint. I was inspired by my family’s many boat trips around the sound. I think I was about 10. This is the one painting of mine, I retrieved from Mom’s collection.

Podcast Recap

Time to change for the new year. New music, a new attitude and a new feature, called After Thoughts. Thanks to all of the BCs and Mark for participating in the holiday 2017 show. Our newest BC is Sarah from New York. Her blog, Mindfully Sarah is featured. Enjoy our new song, Circle by Hartley in its entirety.

Can’t give up selfies entirely in my diary. But I want to mix up my expression as we go.

Tiger doesn’t seem crazy about this edition – though he TOTALLY loved editing while on my pajamaed lap.

Such a change. I love it.
Admittedly I had to double check iTunes. I was hearing diff music lol.

Your so awesome sauce!! My dear friend.
Don’t put your value into others!! Your amazing. You don’t need comments. Participants. Or anything else to validate that what your doing is good. Because it’s great. It’s great FOR YOU!!!! It’s what you love.

I appreciate your ability to do clearly put your thoughts into words.
And as you said. It often triggers thoughts and thinklings for others. Especially me!!!

Dear friend, I think this will be my quote for the year.

Don’t put your value into others!!

This is the number one thing I’ve been needing to work on – and have been sloooooowwwwwwly improving upon. It is tough. But when you do have self-belief, for real, than the slings and arrows bounce off and aren’t such fatal esteem shots.

Kinda like “Intuitive Being” LOL. I’m going to move forward this year with COD doing whatever is fun for me – damn the torpedoes. Luckily, since we share a similar sense of humor, I think I’ll be able to count on keeping at least 1 listener! xoxoxoxox

Dawny may I steal your quote “Don’t put your value into others!!” I agree that we can not allow others to determine our value. That includes family, friends, significant others, strangers and employees. The more we learn to accept ourselves, appreciate ourselves, and love ourselves the more we will value ourselves and the more others will value us….and if they don’t….we say good bye. We have no control over what they think anyway. No matter the relationship we do not have to allow poisonous people in our our lives.

Laurie, somethings you forgot to mentions when it comes to what Laurie has to offer: 1) You offer hope – Hope that we can learn to love ourselves. 2) You offer a safe place (and ear) for the BCs to be vulnerable. 3) You offer encouragement – The podcast has helped me stretch and grow my comfort zone. 4) You also have the ability to bring people (BCs in this case) together.

The new format and song are great. the “After Thought” segment allows you to be even more real and serves as a reminder of Progress not Perfection. (BTW do you still communicate with Alan Standish, I just started listening to his Inner Effort podcast again) Please tell Tiger he is handsome and does a great job “managing” the podcast.

Mark…I’m sure you have heard or read some of my comments and you know that I’m a straight shooter and don’t say things “just to be nice”. You are an important part of this podcast now. I really enjoy all you have added. Plus it is nice to have a male perspective from time to time.

As has been mentioned before Kathleen and I have started playing Disc Golf and the fear of rejection has always prevented me from growing faster. So this year I have decided to play in tournaments even if I may end up in last place. In fact I played in my first In-door putting event and came in last, however there way lots of encouragement and I even got tips from a golfer who is going out on the pro tour this year. The pain of my embarrassment was there, the fear of being laughed at was there, the fear of people talking about me behind my back was there, the only thing I remember today is the encouragement and fun.

To all BCs fear(s) are real and valid, there may be negative reactions to your choices and actions, I know how that feels, and I have felt the same way, however I have found that I miss way to much joy and pleasure in life if I succumb to it. As Dawny says “Don’t put your value into others!!” or “Don’t put your joy and pleasure in life into the hands of others!!”

To Mark, Cheryl, Dawny, Voice Actor Ginny Hayes, Mary S., Fionna and her son Alden, and Eddie L. Fauria’s I extremely enjoyed your participation in the Holiday episode.

Fionna I think your son sounded so cute and adorable, and appreciated your version of Auld Lang Syne.

Dawny you and I have a lot in common, we share a great sense of humor

Sarah welcome to the BCs, I read most recent couple of blog posts and I love how you think: Intentions instead of New Years Resolutions (NYR). I quit living by the spirit of NYR years ago, because like most people I made and quickly broke them and quit until next year. Now I make goals and review them frequently and draw a line in the sand and start over if I failed that day. Based on your post I will start my day listing my intentions for the day with the long term goals as a guide.

Dave, this is awesome! Thanks so much for supporting everyone who contributed these last couple of shows. And personally, I will be keeping your “what Laurie has to offer list” handy to combat these down days of self-doubt. Thanks again for all you do and are to promote authentic kindness and support. And I would love to feature your bravery tournament experiences on th BC Bravery sports report to be inspired and inspire others. Xoxo

Thanks for this list! As you saw on FB, I’m trying to get some different voices to read these so I can sprinkle them throughout either an upcoming episode, or in the next few. Already got one from BC Josephine – she liked the Harper Lee quote and she goes on the bravery report for first time being brave enough to send audio. You helped a lot today my dear! Big Hugs for all of the cool creative stuff you do and instigate. I LOVE THAT about you. xoxoxoxox

Your painting is amazing…very sophisticated composition and execution for a 10 year old! I am super duper impressed!
And I’m so sorry I haven’t been back to the podcast since you returned. I’m still struggling with the same old things but I’m still trying my best to take better care of myself.
I hope to catch up with you and the BCs in the new year.
Best wishes and salutations to everyone!
