It’s either been almost 6 or almost 7 weeks, I’m losing track as time passes. But I know I’m 11 pounds down. The first was me at 225 and the other is me at 214 pounds. Can you see any difference? I think it’s subtle, but I feel great!

Hey Laurie, one of the key issues that was like a turning point for me was realizing the additional money spent on satisfying my “cravings”. It was like an awakening when I realized just how much additional money I spend at the grocery store on things that are just unnecessary. Every extra ten dollars spent on cookies or chocolate or junk food is wasted money. I hate to waste anything. This realization contributed greatly in my search for recovery and I was glad when you talked about it in your podcast. Thanks for sharing.

Ava, you are so right. Until I started this latest podcast venture I think I was in total denial about how much moola I was throwing away on my habit – and THEN literally throwing out food when I decided to “get back on the wagon”. Double whammy to the wallet. I think I’ll bring this up again in future.

What wise words! I particularly liked the part about when you are out for a meal with friends. It is so difficult to walk that relaxed, considered, non-obsessional middle path. Focussing on our companions more than the food, but not going down the line of “I’ve had a little more than I should so I have blown it and might as well finish everything in sight.” I also like the part where you talk about others in the house not being as dominated by food as you, and how you cope with it.

Lots to think about, as always! Well done!
