Podcast Recap

Brave companions Michelle, Janet and Sandy all step up to the plate and give great tips to Maureen, and the rest of us, for dealing with emotions that may drive our eating. Sandy shares on the Bravery Hotline about a sad situation and how she’s trying to cope. New listener Sue’s comment sparks me to create a segment all about why the scale is not to be trusted. Also featured are other ways to send audio to the podcast and let your voice be heard.

I always love to watch lizards and consider them, lucky. Here’s one happy Liz sunning on a rock during today’s hike.

Very informative podcast today. The education about weight fluctuation and exercise is something I tend to forget. I appreciated your clear explanation about it. I AM one of those people who get on the scale every morning. I wouldn’t say I’m compulsive about it. For me it’s more like tracking my blood sugar (I’m a type 2 diabetic). Knowing what those numbers are everyday helps me to see patterns in what I’m eating. I don’t freak if I miss a reading. But know what that trend is is very helpful.

I don’t freak if I miss stepping on the scale on any given day. But it tends to function the same way for me. I guess I need those boundaries to help me craft a plan that works best for me.

Just wanted to add that I loved Sandy’s saying: Anything more than nothing is something (hope I got that right). THAT is exactly the positive type of affirmation that is so helpful. Like the Good, Better, Best idea. I’m picking up some really great affirmations and advice from your brave companions on here. So keep up the good work, Laurie. I’m hoping and praying that this experience becomes very fulfilling for you.

Hey Gal, Happy “Off the Leash Day!!!” I love Sandy’s saying too. She’s a really neat person and often comes up with good ideas and support. It has taken me a very, long time to see the dratted scale as a trend vs. the oracle of how I feel about myself. So I can understand the every day plan – that’s me, unless I’m too scared of what I ate the day prior and so want to wait a day or so, so the physical food in my belly won’t terrify the bejesus out of me. So far, my friend, I’m loving this podcast and blog. I’m learning scads about myself that I hadn’t a clue of before, I’m living my dream of broadcasting – because I always felt I would do well on radio- and I’m getting to know many new companions on a pretty deep and real level whom I wouldn’t even have known otherwise. I think that feeling I had on the mountain two years ago where I felt led to do this was a true calling. Moses had his tablets, I have the small still voice I hear when I walk that is the light of my life – whenever I stop struggling in my head and actually listen.

I SO do that, too, if I think I REALLY blew it. I’ll wait a day to get back on there. I’m thinking I need to deal with how I’m feeling when I CAN’T make myself get on there. Obviously there’s still a lot of fear involved in this whole process. And yep, I think you’re right where you’re intended to be at this time in your life. Even at the weight you are. Does that make you feel weird to think about that? I mean it is one of your biggest motivators… How interesting.
