Starting up the mountain earlier than usual to take advantage of the early morning temperature and quiet.

Podcast Recap

Throw the Status Quo out the window and embrace change. Good-bye Erin Moran, an iconic actress from my middle and high school years. Extra love for BC Rabbit and Dawny. BC comments about Day 133 from Dawny, Mary S and Susie. Sue from the U.K lets us know how she’s coping with a difficult loss. I read snippets from my latest blog post about DIScouragement. BC Mary S. goes on the bravery report for her voice mail message about bravery and the challenges she’s been having since a foot injury. We ponder tracking food. Does it always lead to diet mentality?

I’m impressed with myself that I got up the mountain so early!

Podcast Recap

It’s been more weeks then usual since I hiked up the mountain to my next to upper Zen spot and recorded a show for you. It’s partly because I’m learning to let things go a little more, partly my busy life and partly the dang heat that’s been knocking me for a loop here in Southern CA. A BIG thank you to all of the active Amazon shoppers in all three countries where I have links that support the show. I ask for prayers and positive thoughts for Mark’s special relative. I let go of mindless, automatic eating. We hear from a couple of BCs we haven’t heard from in a while, Helen from the UK and Jo, who is originally from the UK, but who now lives and works in Asia. I read a blog post I wrote about letting things go called ‘Baby Steps out of a List Slump’. We hear Dawny’s reaction to our last show in her own words via Speakpipe. More comment reactions from Fionna, our talented songwriter, Stéfanie from Quebec and Dave, who asks Mark a question. We initiate a brand new feature called the BC Bravery Sports Report. Dawny tells what wogging her half marathon felt like. Mark answers BC Dave’s question. A sound sample from my new big girl mic in my newly completed recording space. It’s a poem I wrote titled, ‘I thought I was hungry’. I list ways I know if I’m hungry or not.

HaHaHa, I AM literally recording my story for Laurie’s Stories in my pajamas. Got to love voice work!

Podcast Recap

I meet some brand new friends, Jessie and Nicole, along with their cute dogs on top of the mountain. I let go of my Inner Fat Chick Identity as I ponder creativity and its place in our world. Thank you to Dawny for posting a 5 star review on USA iTunes. Thanks also to Amazon shoppers and to coffee klatchers who subscribe and donate to the show monthly. Stéfanie from Quebec weighs in with her thoughts on day 113. Two wonderful and touching stories from two new brave BCs – Shea and eM. Mark and I launch another new feature – Laurie’s Stories. I read a story of my own from last week’s wild and wooly writing group that was inspired by the current fad, Cards Against Humanity. Triggered by a comment conversation with BC Dave on one of my status reports, I explore the idea of what it means to find joy.

Laurie's face in foreground with Jessie and Nicole and puppies behind her on the hiking trail

I noticed when I got home, that I accidentally took a selfie that features Nicole and Jessie who I interview in this episode. How’s THAT for lucky? I’d been regretting not asking for a photo.

People on the hiking trail

This shows the unusually crowded trail conditions as I recorded on Memorial Day and people were out enjoying their day off.

Focusrite Solo Audio Interface box with headphones on it next to a pile of books with Laurie's mic perched on top

This little red box is my newest audio equipment. It’s a Focusrite Solo Audio Interface. It turns the signal from the mic into digital files better than going directly to the computer. I used it for recording my story and I think you will hear how it improves my sound. Now, I’m getting a mic stand next week as I hate recording with my mic balanced on stacks of books!

I run up to the covered picnic area of the mountain where I usually hike the MINUTE Mark and I pull into our driveway ahead of the storm coming back from Ventura. I’m ready to give recording day 93 my best shot in the face of growing wind.

Podcast Recap

I record just ahead of a storm and in the spirit of new beginnings I let go of the weird idea I can control the past. Thank you to new supporters of the show with cups of coffee and Amazon. If you are in the USA, Canada or the UK, please support the show by doing your holiday shopping via the show’s Amazon links. Want a daily dose of bravery? Follow my dedicated bravery saying Twitter account, TheBraveryCoach. We celebrate Stéfanie from Quebec, Amy from WI and Dawny’s warm welcomes to our NEW Brave Companions from last show, Vena from Texas, Fernando from Brazil and Shell from Wales. Welcome to Cassie, our newest brave companion, who goes on the bravery report for posting her first public comment on one of my blog posts. There’s a brand new feature on Compulsive Overeating Diary, the blog and show inspired by Dawny’s very brave request. Even MORE touching and exciting bravery as Marquita overcomes her fear to tell us via Speakpipe her own experiences with legalizing trigger food. We feature a wonderful song called Brave and Free written and sung by our very own Brave Companion, Fionna Lane, who will also share in her own words, the brave steps she took in order to write it. We announce an upcoming song we are going to co-write and ask for your help.
