Status 7-21-15*

Hooray! The Coffee pot has arrived. Things are looking up for sure/

Yesterday

Yikes! It HAS been awhile since I posted a status. Most likely I didn’t feel like revealing my thought process over whether or not to continue the show. As you might know if you read my latest blog post, the podcast is going on permanent hiatus. (Which means I’m taking a break from it after the next two episodes- read the blog post for details).

We got hit in California by the violent and stormy remnants of once hurricane Delores for the last few days. So basically, I’ve been holing up out of the thunder and downpour. Yesterday it started to taper off, though the humidity is so miserably high. Another gratitude. We usually have nice, dry heat, no matter HOW hot as blazes it gets. Also, with our drought and water restrictions, it is great to see our plants green up once more after the deluge.

We watched the Netflix documentary on comedian, Tig Notaro. Talk about letting go. This lady’s ability to move ahead and to be vulnerable is amazing. If I ever feel like giving up, I’ll go watch this again!

Today

Only thing better than coffee is starting the day with a hug from Tiger the Cat!

Mark and I are going down to the LA River and meeting up with BC Sandy to ride. Another great way to start the day! Get the blood pumping and hug a friend.

Then I have a routine appointment with my dermatologist. After that, it’s nap time!

Status 7-06-15*

Yesterday

Hooray! Mark and I cleaned our ENTIRE DOWNSTAIRS this weekend. Wow! We haven’t done such a good clean since we were sick a couple of months back. Man how time flies when you are procrastinating. I feel much better mentally and physically. One, because just the hard work of all that furniture moving and scrubbing gets the blood moving and your muscles working. Two, because I am sensitive to dust, pollen, cat fur etc. I get bronchitis and allergies super easy. Hmmm, make sense to keep the house a bit less dusty then? Well as you know, KNOWING what is good for you isn’t the same as doing it. But Mark and I are more motivated than ever to come up with a plan for doing a little every day or every other day so we don’t have SUCH a job again.

Was so tired, my voice work got pushed, so the show writing got pushed and so on and so on. BUT priority number one on my ‘might do’ list was accomplished so I call it a victory.

Today

It’s finally a bit cooler, so we’re headed back to the river for some bike ride action. Of course, since it has been awhile, our bike butts will NOT be up to a long ride. Like life, it takes consistency to maintain bike shape. And like all fitness endeavors you do better by starting where you are and slowly increasing. It can be frustrating to NOT do what you used to do, but you can also hurt yourself overdoing. Again (and I’m talking to YOU Laurie) slow to start and steady build up brings the quickest fitness improvement.

After that, voice exercises and finding more material for possible use in my first commercial demo.

Status 7-05-15*

Yesterday

I am DOUBLE PROUD of myself because I pulled myself up by my bootstraps and did my BIG CLEAN! That’s where I move the furniture out of the family room and my desk area, vacuum, dust, and scrub the heck out of the tiled floors. It’s the biggest part of our downstairs and takes a lot of time to actually clean and not just touch up. I also dusted and vacuumed the bookshelf over my desk, so it looks again like the last photo from this post. Hmmm, Easter cleaning, 4th of July. Seems like I use holidays as motivation to WORK. I always WAS a rebel and tended to do opposite of the expected.

After my cleaning travails which took several hours, Mark did the same to the kitchen. I’m Sooo grateful. Then we stepped outside to join our neighbors in our street for margaritas, snacks and a street view of the big fireworks show that happens every year at a nearby school. I’m also grateful we don’t have to go or drive anywhere to see a great fireworks show.

Here’s a great representation of my day! Voice/Singing practice and further cleaning. Yikes!

Whoop there it is! More cleaning to finish off the downstairs, so we can once again have friends over to our formerly dusty house of horrors. Then voice practice and working more on pieces for my commercial voice over demo. May write some for the next episode, but that is my last priority today. Will probably move up a few places tomorrow. My new and improved VARIABLE ‘Might Do’ list vs. ‘To Do’. Helps me accomplish things as I don’t have the inner rebel against the concept of ‘might’.

Shortest Status Ever!
I was aggravated. BUT it all worked out in the end.

Today

HOORAY! I finally got show 117 written. Looks like Friday I can schedule an early morning hike and try to get the show recorded and released. Fingers crossed. Writing group tonight. Working with my voice acting coach Thursday.

Status 6-23-15*

Yesterday

Fun was on my agenda. I enjoyed my walk down to the park and moving my body after a week or so of riding the sofa.

I’m feeling happy walking around the park with my morning Java – despite how HOT it is already.


I also had a lot of fun meeting up with some Voice Actor peeps I hadn’t seen for awhile, including Max, who did a great job with our Jack ‘O Lantern story from Cheryl on the Halloween episode last year. It was awesome to compare my first time going to the voice actor’s meetup, only ten months or so ago, and yesterday’s. I am on my way. Still far from saying it’s my profession, but I am a part of the community and on my path there as a voice actor. When I first went, I didn’t even feel worthy to try. I felt stupid to even want it. It took all of my courage to walk in the door of that restaurant and meet these folks. And then even more to ask about good teachers and coaches. Every day I feel I’m spinning my wheels, but then I look back and see how far I’ve actually come. It’s a good feeling.

On the irritating side of the coin, I had a computer hardware problem yesterday that delayed my episode writing and editing. We made an appointment today to get the computer looked at. Then, this a.m. *POOF* problem gone. WTF? So I’m weighing canceling the appointment or not. They won’t be able to diagnose if it isn’t happening, but I feel in my bones that once I cancel, it will return.

Today

I am getting to let go of TOO MUCH DANG IMPATIENCE! I planned to work on my mic tests and finish up my placements and settings today. Guess what? Neighbor is doing construction on his roof! No chance to get a sound level with that going on. I think I’m having to fight one of my Queen of the Universe entitlement moments. The neighbors have every right to work on their roofs, but right now I feel like SCREAMING! That’s right BCs, the volcano of rage is alive and well. Breathe, breathe, breathe. It is even messing with my writing as I can barely think with the jackhammer action going next door. If I trusted my computer to NOT to actually be having some dang hardware issue, I’d take it elsewhere for writing triage.

Bottom line, a new episode is on it’s way, just don’t know how soon. Hope you have a peaceful day and that I can whoop up some Zen place in my heart, so I can at least enjoy giving Tiger the Cat his needed cat spa day.
