    Laurie, (feel free to share)
It is so cool to hear that you are riding along the beach. As you know most of the coast in Washington (and Oregon) is cold and windy, however I love spending time at the beach.

Another a insightful podcast. It reminded me that most decisions are not written in stone, or not even that critical to the big picture and that most of the negative consequences from the wrong decisions are harmless.

Kat you showed amazing bravery it ending a relationship that was not adding blessings to your life. Sending you all the healing prayers and Karma you need.

Mary S: Your word of the year “self-control” is inspiring, one of my goals this year is to stretch the boundaries of my mental and physical comfort zones and that is going to take a lot of self control.

Speaking of physical comfort zones you rocked it Laurie, by bravely riding your bike all those miles.

Dawny “Face your Stuff don’t Stuff your Face” is going on my refrigerator/icebox door.

Kelly G and Miranda welcome to the BC’s the number of BC’s ebbs and flows so it is wonderful that you were brave and joined us on the podcast.

In the podcast Laurie shared my comments from last show. I want to share that I am steadily moving to a good place, like all of the BC’s I have lots of ups and downs, but there seems to be more ups than downs. I need to remember to have compassion on myself….I would never treat anybody the way I have been treating myself.

I also mentioned that I read Braving the Wilderness: The Quest for True Belonging and the Courage to Stand Alone by Brene Brown. Maybe I missed something but all I understood was that: It is critical to be authentic even when you have to do the “unpopular” thing within your social circle, as you do this you may help the world heal as it starts conversations on subjects people tend to avoid.

For the most part I have not had a hard time voicing my opposing view point on many subjects, (part of pretending I don’t care if I fit in or not.) From the book I was inspired to practice voicing my opinion in a kinder gentler manner, focusing on finding what we have in common and then working on the differences.

Here is a great quote from the book that may help many BC’s:

“Stop walking through the world looking for confirmation that you don’t belong. You will always find it because you’ve made that your mission. Stop scouring people’s faces for evidence that you’re not enough. You will always find it because you’ve made that your goal. True belonging and self-worth are not goods; we don’t negotiate their value with the world. The truth about who we are lives in our hearts. Our call to courage is to protect our wild heart against constant evaluation, especially our own. No one belongs here more than you.” – Brené Brown, Braving the Wilderness

Dave, thanks for the update, I’m so glad things are looking up. It’s inspiring to follow your journey. I’m especially intrigued by your learning to disagree from a place of understanding. That is a really cool thought about how to be authentic while gaining or maintaining connection. Braving the Wilderness sounds like a really good read. Right now, I’m having to work through a lot of feelings as Mark and I had to cancel our Solvang race for my birthday. His back and intermittent weather issues in the area encouraged us to make a ‘new decision’. It is difficult to let go of something we worked so hard for, but I am encouraged that we did the training, had the time spent together, the fitness that we gained and all of the experiences that led up to the race. Without all of the pondering I’ve done and the new ideas I’d encountered from you and the other BCs, I don’t think I would have taken this setback as well as I have. To thanks for walking along this sometimes twisty path with me. xoxoxox

I’m sorry you will not be able to participate in the Solvang race. That must be super frustrating, good plan to make a new decision, however it is critical you process your emotions and grieve the lost of this specific adventure it will make letting go a little easier.

I hope Marks back issues heal quickly, those can be miserable especially since it feels like there may be no “cure” and he just has to deal with the pain when it comes. Give him a extra hug from Kathleen and I. He needs to make sure he also processes and grieves.

I don’t know about ever being 100% authentic, but I can still take a stand against something I perceive as wrong, instead of acquiescing to “fit in”.

Walking side by side with you, Mark and the other BCs is and honor and a pleasure. The rising tide lifts all boats.

    Happy day BC’s
I love the spa cloth. Your truly deserving Laurie. The color and detail are beautiful!!
I appreciate another great listen Laurie.
So proud of you for always working towards freedom in your head!! You did a very brave thing adventurous bike by yourself. One strong brave woman.
Life is testing me. And continues to test me. I feel as tho I’ve conquered enough but the universe isn’t agreeing. The struggle is real but continue on I must.
Our home brings happiness tho, as does our new puppy. He’s 4 months old now and all legs. Lol. I fear he’ll be growing into those legs. Oy! A bit bigger than anticipated ooooops. The old man dog isn’t doing well but fighting the good fight. Sometimes I think my home purchase is too small but most times I’m content… especially time to clean & pay the mortgage ha. Small is better.
    I’m ready for spring weather.
In the mean time Green Day is on the horizon. Yesssss. I’m not Irish. But my favorite color is green.

Ahhh Dawny, I am sorry to hear that life is still throwing you some curveballs. Me too. I’m happy you have your puppy to play with. Animal companions have a way of giving us love that goes straight to the heart. I am so grateful to have Tiger and his mama, Gracie in our lives. Nothing feels as good as a good cuddle with a warm heart. Sending you warm xs and os from my heart to yours – and hoping for better scenery along our life paths. xo (And speaking of XOs, I too still love the Spa cloth as it is a great reminder of Josephine’s warm heart too)

      Dawny,

The frustration with the constant struggle is real and the stress it causes valid. I’m sorry it is so overwhelming.

“They” say struggle is the foundation for growth and what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger…..but that doesn’t help with the negative emotions…Sometimes we just need a break.
One of my favorite songs If You’re Going Through Hell by Rodney Atkins states:

“Well I been deep down in that darkness
I been down to my last match
      Felt a hundred different demons
      Breathing fire down my back
And I knew that if I stumbled
I’d fall right into the trap that they were laying, yeah
      But the good news
Is there’s angels everywhere out on the street
Holding out a hand to pull you back upon your feet
The one’s that you been dragging for so long
      You’re on your knees
You might as well be praying
      Guess what I’m saying
      If you’re going through Hell
Keep on going, don’t slow down
If you’re scared, don’t show it
      You might get out
Before the devil even knows you’re there”

Sending Good Karma and lots of Prayers your way.
