The view from this new podcast space. Skies are still a bit hazy from the fires and you can see how near the road this is. Still, a nice shady and restful spot for pondering.

Things are looking up as I’m back on the podcast rock, feeling great and ready to step back into my life after recovering from a skin cancer procedure.

Podcast Recap

Back on the podcast rock after recovery from my skin cancer procedure, I ponder the value of an aging body and what it has to teach us. Dawny checks in with a life update and some much needed support for me after my last emotionally draining show. Thanks to BCs Mary S and Cynthia from the Netherlands for their support via Instagram. Dawny’s latest Foolish Fun in honor of the Fall season.

Another fun night at a preview of the new season of Star Wars Rebels at the Disney Animation building. Such a cool part of belonging to Women in Animation. I was Sooooo glad to get out of my house finally.

Podcast Recap

It’s early morning on the mountain and already HOT AS BLAZES. I let go of thinking about my body every 6 seconds and replace that with gratitude. This month’s iTunes 5-star review writers and some of their reviews. Smooches for each. Also thanks to Canadian and UK Amazon shoppers. We hear from Shea, Dave and Dawny with comments about day 115. Dawny goes on the bravery report for completing a half-marathon! Mark reads his favorite poem, If by Rudyard Kipling. Our resident BC Songwriter extraordinaire, Fionna Lane, shares one of her latest songs, Maybe, and the inspiration behind it. We catch up with Amy from WI and talk about posting statuses. Then we flip the format and welcome our newest BC Charm at the end of the show, because she teaches me something about gratitude. We send heartfelt well wishes to a person in Charm’s life.

Featured Song

Maybe*
Music and Lyrics by Fionna Lane
Hear More of Fionna’s music on Soundcloud

Refrain:

Maybe this is it
‘Cause it just feels right, right?
I’ve searched the sea
And combed the sands all night
Then I heard my heart
Thought I heard it cry, cry
Maybe this is what I’ve been
searching for all my life

I have searched my soul
I have trolled the lands
I have held each precious
gemstone in my hands
But I never found
What I thought I’d find
I am looking for a love to last
for all time

They say that you don’t get what you want
But what you need
It’s funny when you retrace your steps
You’re following your own lead.

(Refrain)

I have worn my pearls
Like the pretty girls
But they didn’t end up being
Pearls of wisdom
And I’ve tried and failed
In my fairy tales
Gotta bring my fairy tales
To life somehow

They say you’ve got to
Forget the past
So you can grow
But sometimes what you’re hoping to learn
Is something you already know.

Refrain

Happy Thanksgiving from the California Coast

I reflect back on the path this Thanksgiving – pretty good metaphor, eh?

I’m Thankful for…

  • My hubby Mark. Sometimes I think we COULD NOT be more opposite in temperament, timing, wishes, life goals. But somehow we’ve made it work for more than 20 years together. I love you, Honey. Sometimes what you think you want isn’t what you actually need, and I guess we’ve proven that. xoxoxox

Here’s a link to a short video of Mark riding to the sunset

  • My Cuddly co-editor and sweety cat-boy, Tiger. He came into our lives by accident, and now I can’t imagine a life without him. Sometimes good things happen when you least expect them. xoxoxoxox

    Tiger asleep on the table

I’m so grateful that the culprit, Tiger the Cat came home. I was so scared I’d lost him, that I didn’t even have the heart to boot him off the table.

  • My gentle and sweet Gracie. She had such a hard time accepting love, but she did it. Sometimes we need to be patient with ourselves and others to let love into our lives. xoxoxoxox
    Close up Tabby face

The beautiful, gentle Gracie, Tiger’s mama. She proves that life can get better if you are patient and persistent.

  • You, my Brave Companion. Without all of your thoughts, calls, fun, heartbreak, food for thought, robot aliens, laughter and all that we’ve shared in the 42 weeks, 3 Days since I began this experiment…I don’t think I could say today, I don’t even want to head for the chips. Sometimes you need authentic friends in your life to help you accept yourself and grow toward your dreams. Thank you. xoxoxox
